Keith McPheeters
Sergeant, Farmington NM Police Department, 41 years
of age.
Keith is the founder of Cops on Top and a 13-year veteran of the
Farmington NM Police Department. Keith is a Patrol Sergeant and a
member of the SWAT team (10 years) and lead Hostage Negotiator for
FPD. Keith is married (18 years) with 4 children. Keith has led Cops
on Top Memorial Expeditions that have summitted Denali, Aconcagua,
Rainier, Whitney, Gannett, the Grand Teton, and many other Western
United States mountains.
Rocky Fails
Bicycle Patrol Officer, Farmington NM Police
Department, 48 years of age.
Rocky is an original member of Cops on Top and a 16-year veteran of
the Farmington NM Police Department. Rocky is the senior member of
the Farmington SWAT team (15 years) and is the Department’s senior
Bicycle Patrol Officer. Rocky is recovering from Stage IV Squamous
Cell Cancer; diagnosed in May, and recently completed surgery,
radiation, and chemotherapy in September of this year. Rocky has 2
children. Rocky has summitted Denali, Rainier, Whitney (winter), and
a member of the 2004 Aconcagua Expedition.
Stu
Frink
Motor Officer, Washington State Patrol, 37 years of
age.
Stu is an original member of Cops on Top, and a 14-year veteran of
the Washington State Patrol. Stu is married and has three daughters.
Stu's brother was killed in the line of duty for the Washington
State Patrol in 1993 and knows first hand the loss of a family when
an officer is killed in the line of duty. Stu has participated in
nearly every Cops on Top Expedition and has summitted Denali,
Aconcagua, Gannett, the Grand Teton, and has climbed extensively
throughout the Western United States and the Cascades of Washington.
Chris
Singleton
Patrol Officer, San Jose CA, Police Department, 32
years of age.
Chris is a 9-year veteran of the San Jose CA Police Department.
Chris has climbed in Alaska, Mexico, Russia, Kazakhstan, and
extensively in California's Sierra Nevada. Chris participated in the
2002 and 2003 September 11th Highpoints Expedition by organizing and
leading California's Mt. Whitney climb. Chris was a team leader
during the 2004 Cops on Top Aconcagua Expedition, where he summitted
Cerro Aconcagua.
Kaley Erickson
Battalion Chief (retired), United States Forest
Service, 54 years of age.
Kaley lives in Truckee, CA and is retired from a full career in the
USFS. Kaley has summitted Aconcagua, Cotopaxi, Orizaba, Elbrus, and
has participated in expeditions to Chimborazo and Denali, missing
their summits by just two hundred feet. Kaley has managed many of
Expedition Team’s logistics for the Kilimanjaro Expedition.
Shane Lueddeke
Patrol Officer, San Jose CA Police Department, 33
years of age.
Shane is a 9-year veteran of the San Jose CA Police Department where
he is a Patrol Officer. A graduate of the University of San
Francisco, Shane has participated in the annual Cops on Top
September 11th Memorial Expeditions and the 2004 Aconcagua
Expedition, where he summitted Aconcagua.
Spencer Berntsen
Officer, Bremerton WA Police Department, 34 years of
age.
Spencer is a Drug Enforcement Officer of the Bremerton WA Police
Department. Spencer is married, with no children. Spencer has led
successful expeditions to Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, and the Cascades.
Spencer led the successful 2003 Cops on Top Expedition to Denali and
summitted Aconcagua with Cops on Top in 2004. Spencer is married to
his wife Maria (12 years).
Mark Newcomb
Sergeant, Narcotics and Vice Division, Whitehall OH
Police Department, 44 years of age.
Mark is a 20-year veteran of the Whitehall OH Police Department and
a member of their SWAT team for 16 years. Mark is married and has 2
children. Mark has summitted Rainier, Orizaba, Popocatepetl, and
Cerro Aconcagua.
Gerry Crispo
Constable, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, NB Canada,
43 years of age.
Gerry has been in Law Enforcement in Canada for over 22 years and
has recently transferred to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Gerry
is married with two children. Gerry has climbed in Nepal, Alaska,
Mexico, and the United States. Gerry has been to the summit of
Denali, Aconcagua, and Elbrus.
Carson Hagerman
Quartermaster, Fredericton NB Police Force, Canada,
37 years of age.
Carson has been with the Fredericton NB Police Force for 9 years.
Carson is single and has numerous outdoor interests, including
hiking, mountain biking, and climbing. Carson was a member of the
Cops on Top 2004 September 11 Memorial Climb of Mount Katahdin in
Maine.
Rick Bruce
Captain, Bayview District Commander, San Francisco CA
Police Department, 48 years of age.
Rick has been with the San Francisco Police Department since 1975
and currently is the District Commander of the Bayview Police
District. Rick was the Commander overseeing Officer Isaac Espinoza
at the time of his murder and, for this reason, he has a special
attachment to the 2005 Cops on Top Kilimanjaro Memorial Expedition.
Rick is married with 3 children. Rick has served in a variety of
areas during his 29 years with SFPD, including having commanded
three of the city’s police districts, the Special Operations
Division (SWAT, mounted, motorcycle, bomb, canine), the Patrol
Division, the Investigations Bureau, the Airport Bureau, and the
Homeland Security Bureau.
Greg Suhr
Deputy Chief, Operations Division, San
Francisco CA Police Department, 46 years of age.
Greg Is the Deputy Chief of Field Operations for the San Francisco
CA PD, which governs
the entire uniformed operations of SFPD. Greg has been the Commander
of the Patrol Division and the Special Operations Divisions. Greg is
divorced and has two children. Greg is an avid athlete with strong
interests in rugby.
Steve Evans
Civilian, Cops on Top Board of Directors, Las
Vegas NV, age 41.
Steve is an original member of the Cops on Top team and serves on
the Board of Directors. Steve acted as the team's manager from 1998
to 2002. Steve created and maintained the original Cops on Top
website. Steve works Vice President with Marsh in Las Vegas, Nevada
and is married with 2 children.
It is with great pleasure that we embark on yet another adventure,
yet, as always, our adventure has been tempered with yet another
loss of one of our fellow police officers. It is our hope that by
thus honoring Officer Isaac Espinoza that his name and legacy will
still be remembered in honor and that his memory will not soon fade.
We also wish to assure his family that his sacrifice will never be
forgotten
